Moving an electron microscope: what to know

How to relocate an electron microscope: work with the manufacturer's engineer, secure the column, move without vibration and prepare the new room.

In short

An electron microscope is moved together with the manufacturer's engineer, who secures the column and vacuum system. We pack and move each unit without vibration, and the engineer reinstalls and calibrates. Check the new room for vibration, magnetic fields and HVAC in advance.

Who does what

  • Manufacturer engineer: disconnects, secures the column and vacuum system, and recommissions.
  • Lab team: removes samples, backs up data and prepares the new room.
  • City Hovalot: packing, lifting, air-ride transport and precise placement.

Prepare the new room

  • Floor vibration and magnetic field survey to manufacturer specs.
  • Power, HVAC and chilled water ready before delivery.
  • A clear path from truck to room, including door widths and elevator load.

Moving day

Every unit is labelled and packed separately. The column travels upright, padded and fully secured, on a slow planned route and is unloaded straight into the room.
