In short
Remove cultures, disconnect the CO2 cylinder, empty and dry the water pan, decontaminate and secure the shelves. Move the incubator upright, then reconnect gas at the new site and let it stabilise before returning cultures.
Preparation
- Move cultures to a backup incubator or schedule around them.
- Close and disconnect the CO2 cylinder; cylinders travel separately.
- Empty and thoroughly dry the water pan.
- Decontaminate, remove or secure shelves and lock the door.
Transport
Many incubators come stacked in pairs. We separate them and move each one upright and strapped. The inner door is glass, so it is padded inside and out.
After placement
- Reconnect gas and water per the manufacturer.
- Wait for temperature and CO2 to stabilise.
- Check the CO2 sensor before putting cultures back.
